About the role
Finance isn’t just about numbers. It’s about making data-driven decisions. You’ll be a strategic partner to our cross-functional leadership team, providing the financial insights and infrastructure that will allow us to execute at speed. As our first Finance hire, you’ll have the opportunity to have an outsized impact: you’ll lay the foundations for how we financial strategy, resource allocation, and risk management; and will help us build the Finance function, including hiring, as we scale.
What you’ll do
- Be a close strategic partner to leaders across the organization, from GTM to People to Operations, and support them in making data-driven decisions
- Own the Financial model, and develop and manage Anterior’s FP&A processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
- Build the Finance function and operation at Anterior and develop the required processes including billing, expense/budget tracking, and payroll
- Oversee the controller function (including accounting, bookkeeping, and tax) and manage external stakeholders (such as accountants) until bringing the function in-house
- Build and manage the Finance team as Anterior scales
- Identify and manage financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate risks
- Manage the organization's cash flow ensuring the company has the funds required to meet its obligations
- Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, such as investors, auditors, and financial institutions
- Set and manage compensation for staff, including incentive plans (e.g., equity, variable compensation)
About you
- You excel at building and maintaining financial models that reflect real-world scenarios and serve as reliable tools for data-driven decision-making
- You balance analytical thinking with pragmatism. You know when to rely on data and when and how to take a practical "80/20" approach when information is limited or imperfect
- You are detail-oriented with an exceptional ability to focus on specifics while maintaining a clear and comprehensive big-picture perspective
- You have excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to hire, develop, and motivate a high-performing team as well as external consultants and stakeholders
- You are an exceptional visual, verbal, and written communicator who excels at cross-functional collaboration, providing actionable insights and analytical tools that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization
- You have 1-3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, strategy consulting or similar, as well as 2-4 years of experience leading and building finance functions in high-growth startups, having seen them through multiple stages and cycles
- You ideally have a relevant academic background (e.g., Economics, Accounting, MBA) and experience working in healthcare
- You thrive in high-pressure environments and are capable of spinning multiple plates at once
- You're based in New York (or willing to relocate) and are excited to work in a "default in-person" environment

Hiring process & application
Our hiring process generally follows these core stages. While the exact steps may vary, here's how it typically works:
- Review: Submit your CV/resume. We're looking for someone with B2B and high-growth startup experience, as well as experience building and hiring a specialized marketing team.
- Manager screening call (30 mins): A call with our team to talk through your current/past experience, your interest in the role, and tell you more about Anterior.
- Team interviews (30 mins each): 2 interviews with different members of our team across GTM and Product. We'll dive deeper into your experience in marketing and design and give you the opportunity to learn more about what it's like to work at Anterior.
- Take-home & competency deep dive (1 hour): This interview usually consists of a practical element (case study, Presentation, Technical Problem Solving, etc.) designed to give you a broader understanding of how we drive impact at Anterior. This will be with the hiring manager and one other team member.
- Founder interview (30 mins): A conversation with members of our executive team. We assess your team fit based on our values.
