Who We Are
Verkada is a leader in cloud-based B2B physical security. Verkada offers six product lines — video security cameras, access control, environmental sensors, alarms, workplace and intercoms — integrated with a single cloud-based software platform.
Designed with simplicity and scalability in mind, Verkada gives organizations the real-time insight to know what could impact the safety and comfort of people throughout their physical environment, while empowering them to take immediate action to minimize security risks, workplace frustrations and costly inefficiencies.
Founded in 2016 with more than $460M in funding raised to date, Verkada has expanded rapidly with 15 offices across three continents, 2,100+ full-time employees and 28,000+ customers across 70+ countries.
This is an exciting opportunity to build and lead the FP&A function at a high growth pre-IPO startup, as part of Verkada’s growing Strategic Finance team. You will play a critical role in improving our overall financial discipline and taking our end-to-end budgeting, reporting, and financial planning processes to the next level of scale and sophistication, as we prepare ourselves to operate as a public company. This role will report directly to the VP of Strategic Finance.
In this role, you will:
- Lead a highly capable 3-person team (to start), partnering with budget owners across the company on financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and ad hoc analyses
- Own our monthly/quarterly CFO budget reviews and detailed opex forecast models
- Create more rigorous and scalable policies and processes around how teams spend their budgets and manage resource allocation tradeoffs
- Identify opportunities to drive greater operating efficiency, and work cross-functionally to drive through those changes
- Help scale FP&A’s impact through improved tooling and self-serve reporting
- Get sh*t done! Be comfortable rolling up your sleeves and getting into the weeds to drive impact on a daily basis… we knock out today’s problems while also balancing our need to build for the long-term
We're looking for:
- 10-12+ years of progressive high growth FP&A experience. You’ve previously helped build and scale FP&A functions at fast growing technology startups (ideally from hundreds to multi-thousand person scale), and are comfortable rolling up your sleeves as a “player-coach” builder. Experience with hardware and/or inventory businesses is a plus.
- High analytical horsepower paired with deep expertise in data and financial planning systems. You are fluent in both SQL and data warehouse best practices, and have deep experience with modern BI and Financial Planning platforms (Verkada currently uses Looker and Pigment).
- Attention to detail and strong strategic instincts. You are meticulous in ensuring your and others’ output is precise and error-free, but pair this with a strong sense for 80/20 to know when things “pass the smell test” and what is critical vs. secondary to an answer.
- A growth mindset and comfort with ambiguity. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment that will require you to create structure out of ambiguity, manage often competing priorities, and pivot quickly when circumstances change.
- Excellent communication and partnership skills. You can effectively engage with a diverse array of stakeholders ranging from sales reps to engineers, and build the credibility, relationships, and buy-in necessary to strike the delicate balance between partnering and constructive challenging that this role requires. Fantastic written and verbal communication skills are a must.
- A team player with a low “ego to smarts ratio”. You bring a positive, learn-it-all (not know-it-all) energy to your teams, and are generally known for being great to work with. Life is short… we want to enjoy the time we spend with our colleagues!

This estimate is also just one component of Verkada’s total rewards package. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
